Latest Updates from Our Project:

We're Fully Funded!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Nov 25, 2022 at 02:17:22 PM

Dawners,

You did it. All of you. You came out and gave us so much support, especially in these last few days. We are thrilled to announce that we are fully funded!

This is a huge moment, and you can expect a proper sigh of relief and another heartfelt expression of gratitude once the campaign is closed. Until then, however, we're going to keep trying to bring in new pledges in these final hours--after all, there's always the risk some backers may drop out or some pledges may be invalidated.

In order to give ourselves some extra breathing room, we're announcing our one and only stretch goal to see if we can welcome in a few final folks:

VIOLET DAWN BOOKMARKS

If we manage to hit $9,000 in funding before the campaign closes at 7 PM Eastern time, every print copy of Violet Dawn: Exile will include a custom bookmark (design still TBD). Consider it one more way for us to say "thank you" for ensuring our success and giving us a bit of extra peace of mind.

Whether we make this stretch goal or not, however, we're so thrilled you got us here.

It's Always Darkest Before the Dawn
over 3 years ago – Fri, Nov 25, 2022 at 11:15:42 AM

Dawners,

It's the final day of our campaign. Thanks to you we've completed all of our social goals and--as of this writing--we're over 90% funded with 7 hours left . That's less than $750 still to raise. We'll be hard at work spreading the word today, but spirits are high...

...and whatever happens, we're so grateful you've been with us. Some of you are friends and colleagues who wanted to support this project because you believe in us personally. Some of you know us from past work and decided to take a chance on us again. Some of you are totally new to us--you saw a Tweet or Reddit post that made you curious or stumbled upon us on Kickstarter. Whoever you are and however you found us, thank you. Your incredible support has been heartening.

It's hard not to be honored by the faith you've put in us. We'll do our best not to disappoint you.

For now, it's back to promoting the project in these last hours. I'll be doing a long thread on Twitter highlighting pieces of past Violet Dawn artwork--between all our sketches, RPG sourcebooks, comics work, and more, we've got a pretty fantastic library. (Maybe we'll do an art book some day!)

Take a look if you're interested. We'll see you when the campaign is done!

Thanksgiving Eve Update AKA Pre-food Coma Update
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 23, 2022 at 05:42:18 PM

Dawners,

We are sitting at 75% toward our funding goal and the campaign ends on Friday. We know a lot of people are going to be traveling for the holiday, so we’re doing all we can to get the word out today. It’s going to be a grind, but I know we can do it! With the holiday tomorrow, this is going to be a long update. Apologies in advance.

AMA

Alex did an amazing job on the AMA yesterday and essentially took the day off to answer people’s questions. He wrote over 20,000 words of Q&A--which if you know Alex as well as I do--shouldn't be surprising. I can’t thank him enough. There are a ton of questions that he answered about the imperial agent storyline for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Alphabet Squadron, Twilight Company, his days at BioWare, how to break into the writing industry, insights into his process, and everything else in between. If you want to see what you missed, you can catch up over on Reddit here.

Writer's Edition

If you're a writer and looking to break into the industry, you can get a 90-minute video call with New York Times bestselling author Alexander Freed to discuss the art, craft, and business of writing. This pledge level is ideal for aspiring creators, or if you know someone who wants to be a creator and needs direction. The topic of the call will be tailored to YOU and what you need to know. We reduced the price on this pledge level to $160 which is only $35 more than our sketch edition.

Artist's Edition

We still have 4 slots left for the artist's edition. Louis will draw you an original colored pencil sketch of anything you want (subject to his approval). I have his original Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther piece (pictured below). When I first opened it, the detail just blew me away. I thought it was a photo. We reduced the pledge level on these to $500 which includes the premium edition of our graphic novel plus an original one-of-a-kind artwork. While $375 for an original piece of art you can hang on the wall isn't chump change, it's not a bad deal either. This would make for an awesome Christmas gift.

Add-ons

I’ve had a few people ask me if they could add on an additional book for a friend. You can do that under the add-ons. Speaking of add-ons, we haven’t seen many people take advantage of them... Not sure if the ones we have just aren’t popular or if folks don’t know how this works as it’s a relatively new feature on Kickstarter. In any case, once you set your pledge, it’ll bring you to the add-ons section. You are free to change your pledge at any time. We have the following add-ons available:

You can see what pages are still available here (you might need to give it a bit to load). SPOILERS: This link does contain the entirety of Violet Dawn: Exile without the lettering. If you are sensitive to spoilers and just want a cool page to have, we’ll be happy to select one for you.

We also have a print set, some digital D&D products if you need to complete your collection, and a few copies remaining of Denizens of Avadnu if you missed it the first time. More info on the main campaign page.

Social Goals

The social goals are designed to help us get the word out and we’ve had a LOT of activity on social media the past couple of days. We’re currently 2 likes away on Facebook from unlocking an additional digital wallpaper, 5 backers away from adding an additional Journal of the Sarth page, and 16 retweets away on Twitter from unlocking an additional pinup that Louis will work on through the updates. Go forth and spread the word to get free stuff!

Kickstarter Spotlight: Cthulhu vs Uncle Sam #2

If you're into Cthulhu like I am (I'm actually headed out to play Arkham Horror in about 30 mins) this comic looks really fun! The campaign is ending in just 5 days. So if you're interested, don't miss it! I'll let the creator tell you about it.

When cultists attempt to summon Cthulhu at the height of World War  II, it's up to Uncle Sam and his friends to save America... and the world!

And in the brand new Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam #2, Uncle Sam has to time travel back to 1776 to discover what dark eldritch secret is sapping his powers. So when Cthulhu attacks New York  City, only the Statue of Liberty can protect humanity from ultimate destruction!

Click on the art above to find out more.

I hope everyone stays safe for the holiday! I'll post the final page of Transmutation tomorrow so ya'll have something to read if you have any downtime. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!! -V
