Day 3 Update
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 28, 2022 at 02:42:29 PM

Dawners,

At the start of day 3, we're sitting at 32% to goal. We greatly appreciate all of you for getting us this far. We're entering the marathon portion of the Kickstarter where pledges will start to taper off a bit. Keep spreading the good word using #seekthedawn and by retweeting our pinned post and liking our Facebook page.

If you haven't checked us out on Twitter, you are missing some awesome new artwork that Louis has been putting up every few days for #Inktober. For Halloween, he's working on a colored pencil sketch of Brandon Lee from the Crow that we will be sharing as well. Here's just some of the artwork Louis has done in the past couple weeks.

These 3 pieces are monsters that were featured in our creature collection, Denizens of Avadnu, that was compatible for the 3rd edition of Dungeons & Dragons. They'll be making a reappearance through our Digital Role-playing Game Bundle add-on with new stats and artwork for the latest edition of Dungeons & Dragons. If space allows, we will also be including these pieces in our digital and print editions.

For backers we'll have the next panel of Transmutation later today. Until then!

Dawners,

We've come a long way in a short time currently sitting at 24% to goal. A huge THANK YOU to everyone for the support. Retweet our pinned tweet and share our Facebook page to get those Social Goals unlocked and help us get the word out about our campaign so we can maintain our momentum. Remember to share with #seekthedawn on social media. If you want to see additional information and artwork from Violet Dawn: Exile that currently isn't on our Kickstarter page, you can visit our Seek the Dawn website.

For our first update, it seems fitting that we talk about our main protagonist.  When designing Kaszek, we went through a bunch of different designs for the weapons and the armor. Initially we started with more of a Samurai-look to his armor, but quickly moved to a more organic design. A zeidian's armor is essentially alive and bonded with the wearer. It can 'grow back' if a piece of it is damaged in battle. The flowing organic design we settled on with fit better with that idea in mind.

Having settled on a final design for the armor, Louis went through various iterations for Kaszek's face. It took a lot of sketches to pin down and get the right look that we wanted. Below is just a small set of sketches showing the process.

Kaszek's look continued to evolve throughout the comic. The below image is series of panels from the finished graphic novel that Louis used as a reference when drawing Kaszek in later chapters.

We will pack the final book with as many of these sketches as space will allow and we will be showcasing more throughout the campaign. Later today, we'll have the first panel of our exclusive backer webcomic available. Until then!

Transmutation Webcomic 1
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 28, 2022 at 03:46:28 AM

Dawners,

As promised here is the cover and the first panel of our backer only webcomic, Transmutation. This is a standalone prequel story to Exile that focuses on one of our main characters, the Sarth. The format is 6 pages with 4 panels per page (the cover brings the comic to 7 pages and doubles as panel 0).

Transmutation will be collected in the digital and print versions of Violet Dawn: Exile. We're offering this as a sneak peak to everyone. Subsequent posts will be available to backers only. You can click on the artwork to view a larger image. Enjoy!
